Christian Rodwell 0:19
Hello, welcome to Episode 47 of wealth talk. My name is Christian Rodwell, the membership director for wealth builders and I'm joined by the founder Mr. Kevin Whelan. Hello.
Unknown Speaker 0:28
Hi, Chris. Good evening to you.
Christian Rodwell 0:30
Well, good evening and a very Happy Birthday because we are celebrating our one year anniversary today. Kevin, can you believe it? I
Unknown Speaker 0:37
didn't get the present. Chris. Where is it?
Christian Rodwell 0:41
Well, the Present is in South being back here to celebrate I think and time has flown And We have certainly had a lot of fun over the last 46 episodes. And we're looking forward to today as well because we're going to shine the spotlight on some of our members. Only
Unknown Speaker 0:55
one look us You didn't give me a gift. How about I give a gift. Go for it. I'd love that. Tell you what, as we've got a big announcement, you know, we've had some big changes in 2019. Right? We finally Chris got Brexit done,
Unknown Speaker 1:08
right?
Unknown Speaker 1:10
We didn't expect to get Meg's it done. Did we know expect the rolls to go off on a tangent, creating their independent streams of income? I'm not sure we had anything to do about that. But also we've got a big change. We've learned tonnes and tonnes on the foundation membership that we did with our hundred and 10 members, sort of helping us create and change and tweak all of our lessons and test them to make sure that everything worked well. And as a result of that, we got a name change coming up as well. So I'm sure you can give more of that later on. But yeah, what a year Chris really enjoyed it. And I know we're going to hear from some of our founder members in the foundation programme, and I want to thank every single one of them actually, for knowing that the wealth builder programme This has been established for many, many years with me coaching, guiding mentoring people for, you know, high premium, but that premium was worth it. But now we're bringing the masses, you know, we're bringing them the message to more people on we really, because still Chris was scratching the surface aren't we 95% of the population still don't get to financial independence. I know we're influencing people, maybe 100 at a time. But we now want to step that up and get 200 times 300 at a time 500 at a time, and the foundation members have done a great job of giving us all the feedback so that we can improve and evolve and that's why I want to take my hat off to him and say, a big thank you all you found the members, you know who you are, and we'll hear from some of them today.
Christian Rodwell 2:48
We will indeed and of course thank you to everyone listening right now as well who's been supporting the wealth talk podcast, leaving us comments, and you know, giving us kind feedback when we meet you at events. It's So appreciated. And we might not have a gift for one another today, Kevin, but we certainly do have a gift for our listeners. And we have one very special competition, which we are announcing the details of later on in this episode. So absolutely Stay tuned, because you do not want to miss out on that. You mentioned the name change, Kevin. So of course, when we launched last year, I mean, launched the foundation programme just a couple of months after the podcast, actually. So, first intake was in May 2019. And as you said, we've got the hundred members that we said we wanted to work with. And it's been going great, but we've definitely created now a very, very clear processes step by step process, which we've named the seven steps to wealth, and of course, that's the very front and centre of the wealth chart that we created at Christmas. I know many people listening order the copy of the wealth chart, all of our founding members received a copy of the wealth chart and so we were changing the name of the programme so it will no longer be called the foundation programme. We open up again next month and the doors will open on March the 30th then the programme is now going to be called the seven steps to wealth. So our members today our founding members, they will be referring to the foundation programme because that's obviously what they know it for. But moving forward as from next month, it will be renamed seven steps to
Unknown Speaker 4:20
and always be our founding members Chris because they joined the programme knowing it wasn't fully complete, you know, because I hadn't taught it to a large number of people and bringing in you and increasingly now or the coaches to help wasn't easy to take all the IP that was locked inside my head. We've got a cabs it didn't we we got all of the information out. Now we've got it out and we've honed it and sharpened it and ready to release it and hopefully try and get you know more and more people on that path quest to creating financial independence because when you get to wealthy, you get so many different freedoms. And we've talked about those many, many times, haven't we, Chris, the big freedoms, you get, you know, the freedom of time, the freedom of money, the freedom of relationship, the freedom of creativity, of purpose of location, you get so many things, but it's not easy, you know, and what, what I think we found is it's been great to see how some people who struggled, but with the help of each other, and with the help of ourselves, many are making great strides now and moving towards security, and then from security, to independence, you know, and I couldn't be more thrilled Chris with what we see. Absolutely. So we've got
Christian Rodwell 5:43
quite a lot to fit in with our five guests today are five members, probably worth me just quickly running through the questions that I asked them because we definitely want you listening to focus on their answers and not so much maybe my questions each time but I really just asked them, What are some of the challenges the problems That you having before you join the programme, you know, and how's that making you feel? And what was it in particular about the foundation programme that made you decide to join? And then obviously just finding out kind of what they've been up to what pillars they're focusing on, and any benefits and surprises about the programme that you weren't expecting? And really has it given you the confidence now to start working on your own plan, and know that you are taking forward steps to building your wealth and your recurring income. So those were the questions that I asked and there was some reference to some of our technical language in there. Isn't there Kevin pillars of Wales? Yeah, maybe
Unknown Speaker 6:37
maybe I can debrief that at the end. But you know, the important thing with any form of new venture and wealth for many years a new venture, there is a new language to learn. And what was reassuring for me actually made me smile enormously. Chris is when I hear you know, Andy and Danny and Jeff and john and Richie go day using our language they use The language of wealth building now, and sometimes very quickly. So you know, for those people who are maybe not 100%, clear on every piece of language we use in in wealth, maybe we could issue some form of a link to some of the basic episodes. Chris, when we talk about the wheel of wealth, which is quite integral to the whole process, the Seven Pillars, the whole concept of turning the wheels and creating their debits, which is how you find money and basically create money out of thin air, and the five forms of leverage. All of these things go together. But in fact, they're all beautifully summarised on the and the seven steps to wealth, because they're all included in that journey, so that anybody could follow this. Even if you didn't know the language. Yes, you would need to learn it. But it's not that complicated. Actually. It's quite fun when you find people speaking that language and communicating with each other using it. So I think we've got a tribe going and we want to turn that tribe into a massive, massive following. And we don't really mind whether you buy into our services or not, we just want you as a listener to follow as much of the guidance that we can give you, and just give us some feedback. So we don't need to be a customer of ours, we definitely do not need to do that. But those who do, you know, like these five does an incredible story to tell. And, and I must add, they weren't just chosen the five, you know, they were just part of the community, not the only five people who do anything. So I just want to stress that too. So we haven't hand picked them. But they are making contributions on there. They're all different stories, which is why it was important to share people with a different view, different ages, different sexes, all of that kind of thing. So that's why they were chosen not because of any other reason.
Christian Rodwell 8:46
So five of our members coming up and let's kick things off with Andy labour. Andy, welcome to wealth talk. Great to have you on today.
Unknown Speaker 8:55
Thanks very much, Chris. appreciate being invited. Thank you
Christian Rodwell 8:57
know, I'd love you know, to hit our listeners to hear your story, Andy, because it's been a very, very exciting few months for you. So before we kind of get into where you are right now, what some of the problems or challenges Would you say that you were having when it came on wealth building before you joined foundation programme?
Unknown Speaker 9:14
Yeah, sure. So my background is actually emergency services. So I was sort of strapped to a pension. I had to do my time, and albeit it's a very good pension. There's nothing I could do with it in terms of SAS or anything like that at all. And I'd always had this entrepreneurial streak in me, but I couldn't really do anything with it. I felt a bit stifled and couldn't really do much with it. So when I actually left the police a few years back five years ago now, I suddenly this everything sort of opened up to me, I had massive shiny Penny syndrome. I was just rushing around all over the place, looking at all these different opportunities. And I had a fantastic job. I moved into project management and then business change. And I was enjoying what I was doing, but I think because of this entrepreneurial streak and I'd always wanted to have my own business, but I had absolutely no focus, no idea what it was that I wanted to do so and then obviously came across you through the podcast. And what was It
Christian Rodwell 10:00
about wealth builders about foundation programme that kind of piqued your interest, Andy, what was different?
Unknown Speaker 10:05
It was structure. Actually it was the pillars, it was the fact that there were mentors. And it really was it actually gave me some focus. And for me, it was very much around as said earlier was really was about trying to build a business, and potentially some IP as well. So a couple of pillars. You know, there's a lot of people in the group that are really, you know, doing fantastic things with property. And that's certainly something I'd be looking to do a bit later down the line. But for me now, you know, it's really about building business, I developed an e commerce site that I was tinkering with, but again, because this shiny Penny thing I was just rushing around all over the place, it was potentially do some fulfilled by Amazon as well. And I was looking at all these different options. So what wealth builders did was really helped me focus on exactly what it was I was going to do. And obviously, with your help and guidance as well, it then sort of gave me real focus and attention on where I can actually make a difference and a difference you most certainly have made. So let's hear about that. Because we spent a lot of time on on calls Haven't we have last few months and tell everyone what you've been doing? Yeah, we sort of came up with a bit of an idea, just a little idea a while back. And September last year, I opened up a private Facebook group. And my background is SOS emergency services. And so there's a lot of people who were approaching me and asking how I'd moved sort of successfully from emergency services into a corporate world. And there's been quite a few people disillusioned and again, sort of being bit stifled, I think so more and more people are approaching me. So open up a Facebook group that's grown now to sort of over 600 within the Facebook group, and also produced a document to help people understand how LinkedIn work better specifically for people from the emergency services and how to actually use their skills and experience and map those across in a way that can be understood by the corporate world and by recruiters. And that's just grown and grown really from there. Obviously developed an email list as well and that then, obviously From your podcasts, I then thought, Well, I'm going to give podcasting a go started out started that in November. And that's going amazingly well, you know, a few thousand downloads of 17 countries, you know, and the feedback on that as there's been absolutely staggering. And I've had some amazing guests on that, including yourself, obviously. And that was really all about guiding and inspiring police officers specifically, to be able to help them find new careers, but also focus on a bit of mental health issues as well around PTSD and some charities and I've got a lot of success stories from from people who've been there and done it who have been successful in moving away from the place and moving into different roles. And just hearing their stories and basis around giving people belief and support but doing on a much larger scale, you know, trying to do on one on one, I've done some one to one coaching and thoroughly enjoyed it. And, you know, taking people through the entire process, but has the ability to be able to do that on a wider scale. So you and I spoke about potentially developing a course. And so that's exactly what we've done. I developed an online programme. I've got my first clients. So I launched that just a couple of weeks back. Got my first paying customers the first time they were asked for people to pay for any products really that are developed other than sort of referral fees and such like, so far, it's going amazingly well. So it's been an amazing few months, really. And it's very exciting. Very exciting.
Christian Rodwell 13:19
Yeah, it's been so good to see your progress. And I think it's just a great example, Andy, for for everyone listening now of when you really honed in on a niche, and you, you know, use your experience, you said you came from emergency services background. And so you know that area, it's not like you're trying to learn something new and start a brand new business, which is completely alien is taking that existing skills and knowledge and we talked about wealth dynamics, understand your skills, your strengths, your network, your community, and you've really proven that you can help other people who were in your position, and it's been so great to see and how is the structure of understanding the pillars And as you've mentioned focusing in on maybe just the business and the IP pillar and just really getting good at that and then turning the wheel on that how's that helped?
Unknown Speaker 14:08
It's helped massively on the the information that you get from the podcast and obviously that peer support and the community as well within the wealth builders communities has made a massive difference the guidance from you as well Chris has been outstanding and second to none and the ability to be able to ask you a few questions as well as helped massively but again I think I'd you know, I touched on it really early doors it's for me, I needed structure I needed focus on I needed I need to work to a plan, you know, wealth dynamics. I'm a supporter by nature if you like and so I'm good at leading people and motivating and driving people but my attention to detail is pretty low. And so you know, the wealth builders programme and also work with yourself and with Kevin as well as helped massively in terms of keeping me focused, knowing that I'm looking at developing the business pillar. I'm looking now to develop the IP and potentially write a book and the sort of As well as the with the podcast and other stuff that I'm developing as well as all around IP and then that will give me the ability to then move towards things like property you know, you and I have spoken about what I'd like to do longer term. And for me, you know, I'd love to be able to have places for my kids and have those set up and ready for them and be able to rent them out prior to you know, the kids moving and just have a bit of security for them as well and also a bit more security for us around my pension as well so and just you know, there's loads of really good things to work towards and it's it's exciting times it is and a lot of our members talk about being able to really provide that security for for their families for their children to leave that legacy you know if you think that six months Andy to where you were to where you are now that's your mindset is your belief about that ability to be able to provide something a bit more solid in the future for your family changing now? It really is Yeah, massively and again, that's very much down to the programme and yourself as well it's as you know, you'd I suffered massively from from imposter syndrome and just sort of lacking a little bit self belief Really, but through the programme and through working with yourselves, it's really give me that belief that actually I can have that security that long term security, my family and, you know, develop my own business and looking at the other pillars as well what I can do there with investments and such like, you know, so it's been extraordinary. It's been an amazing few months. I can't thank you enough. And for wealth builders as well. It's a phenomenal tool, a great resource for people to dive into. I'd like to thank you as well. And they've been such a great member of our community and our group, and it's great to have you here. So thanks for sharing with us today on wealth well known and so Thanks, Chris.
Christian Rodwell 16:35
Okay, Danny, welcome to wealth talk. Great to have you on today. Thanks for having me. Now, Danny, you joined us back in August, I believe for the foundation programme. Is that right? That's right. Yeah. Okay. So Danny, take us back to kind of before joining, what would you say was some of the problems or challenges you were having around that time before you joined?
Unknown Speaker 16:53
So I think for me, I've always been really keen to build multiple streams of income and I've definitely made some mistakes in the past costly mistakes. And I think the biggest frustration has been trusting the source and knowing what to believe and what not to believe. And there's so many false promises. So yeah, definitely made some mistakes. And my property mentor had mentioned wealth builders to me. And that's actually how I came across the programme. And then after doing some research on yourself and Kevin, and then I decided to join the programme. It sounded like Finally I found something that could tick the boxes and give me some solid advice with my wealth building.
Christian Rodwell 17:45
Great, and we're very pleased that you did Danny, what was it specifically? What was different about the foundation programme that made you joined? You think?
Unknown Speaker 17:53
Definitely the structure? Yeah. Having that structure of the wheel of wealth and understanding how you go Through that, I really liked that it, you know, followed a very clear process. And you could get right to the end with your due diligence and pull away and knowing that that's the right thing to do. Rather than being like, well, I put all of my effort into this, I might as well just go for it. Regardless, the profiling really helped as well. So that was quite interesting. I've done lots of different profiling. Over the years being in sales, you go through a lot of those, but this one was the most detailed one, which again, made me realise that whilst I may be good at things, I should be concentrating on things where I'm more in flow. So that's really helped me to think forward. I guess,
Christian Rodwell 18:50
one thing that we do in inside the group, Danny, as you'll know, is is really connecting people together based on the wealth dynamics and interests and creating the body groups. You notice that Something that's been useful for you as well.
Unknown Speaker 19:01
Yeah, I love the body group thing. And actually, there whilst you have the buddy group, I found the whole community incredibly helpful. There's something I'm exploring, at the moment, a new strategy. And I'm part of a couple of communities admittedly. And actually, I hands down got the most value out of the people within this community, even though there's only 100 people in and actually you're not everyone's overly active on the Facebook group. it's astounding just how much value you can get from other people. I think whatever idea you come up with, there's someone that's done it and if not, then yourself or Kevin know someone that have so the connections the May has more than paid for itself. If there was nothing else, just the connections has been really really valuable. You posted in the Facebook group recently. Danny your updates so far in 2020, but tell everyone listening I know what action you've been taking. And you know, was there a moment kind of in the programme where you just kind of felt? Yep, I get it now things are starting to fall into place.
Unknown Speaker 20:07
Yeah. So
Unknown Speaker 20:09
I think it's been quite clear, you know, the process to go through. I'm definitely turning multiple wheels. And one of the biggest things and actually how I came across wealth builders, and beginning was a recommendation to look at my pension situation and see if I was eligible for a SAS pension. But that was a huge wake up call. And, again, just something that I never really heard of, and the someone who's constantly looking at ways to build wealth. It's actually not that easy to find the information sometimes. So yes, I'm my SAS pension is approved by HMRC. I'm just waiting for that to be funded. So I'm in the process of researching how I'm going to be investing those funds once they land so I'll be ready to go on I'm just coming to the end of a refurb on my first buy to let property and I'm exploring a few other strategies as well, a lot within property. And I've released some home equity to invest as well. So I think that's three of them as
Christian Rodwell 21:17
Yeah, I know you're interested in some business and IP as well. We talked about.
Unknown Speaker 21:23
Yeah.
Christian Rodwell 21:24
Okay, great. So just finally then, Danny, for our listeners, you know, now you understand the the Seven Pillars of wealth, you've talked about spinning the wheel, turning the wheels, and how's this changed your mindset and your belief about now your ability to really have a more secure financial future?
Unknown Speaker 21:40
Yeah, complete confidence, really. So I tend to be quite impatient. And as as you mentioned, there are the wheels that I definitely want to get turning back. And there's only so many hours in the day and I'll do my best to make the most of those. But, yes, I've got a very clear vision of exactly How I'm going to get all of the pillars and all of the wheels turning. So it's just a matter of time. It's not a matter of if it's just a matter of when now, I've got, you know, my very clear goal of being out of the rat race within three years. So it's just under three years now. So yes, very confident that it's more than possible.
Christian Rodwell 22:24
Right? Well, we absolutely love having you part of our community and our group, Danny, and thank you so much for sharing with us today. And we'll talk
Unknown Speaker 22:31
All right, thank you.
Christian Rodwell 22:32
Okay. Welcome, Jeff. Good to have you on.
Unknown Speaker 22:35
Thanks, Christian. It's good to be invited.
Christian Rodwell 22:38
Now, Jeff, yourself and Stephanie joined the foundation programme back in 2019. Why don't you tell us and begin by telling us what exactly was the problem or challenge that you would say you were having before you join the programme?
Unknown Speaker 22:51
Well, it's an interesting question. I mean, we didn't really know we had a problem. But it became clear once we joined the programme, which was it was a big step from really became clear to us that we had a lack of direction and focus in what we were doing. So a bit of a drifter in this area, which is a term that Kevin said, and that really rang true with us. We did have rental property already. And we're already organising our SaaS with Kevin and yourself. And we wanted to make the most of that. So the possibility of joining the foundation programme just fitted in really well with that. And
Christian Rodwell 23:26
before joining kind of what was some of the feelings perhaps that you were feeling, you know, as a drifter, how did how does that make you feel?
Unknown Speaker 23:32
I think it was, we had a bit of clarity of thinking like a direction. I think both Stephen and myself both felt we had a bit of frustration with our lack of progress.
Christian Rodwell 23:42
Okay. And what was different about the foundation programme other than obviously, the the couple of things you already had in place, such as the SAS, but was there something in particular that made you think, Okay, that looks like the right place for us to be?
Unknown Speaker 23:55
I think there's a number of things that when it was discussed with us, sort of felt like It was something we really needed. My wife and I felt it would make us more accountable to ourselves. It was going to educators, and the community aspect of it attracted us as well, to be able to work with like minded individuals. And then in addition, Kevin's involvement, and it was a big plus for us. And we felt it would also dovetail very nicely with our SaaS fund plans.
Christian Rodwell 24:22
Yes. I think you know, just this year, you posted in the Facebook community that there's been quite a bit of activity already this year. So would you like to just update us?
Unknown Speaker 24:31
Yeah, that's, that's absolutely right. I mean, a big change for me, I've ended up leaving my day job now working full time in property. And so that's come up just the right time as well with all of this going on as well. But the big things for us at the moment are we've expanded our single leg portfolio, working with my son, so using a bit of leverage there, which has worked very well. He's the run around which is a good thing to have. And with Stephen and myself, we're now moving forward into buying some land and we want to develop Some houses on it. And that's going through nicely as well. We want to be able to do more development. So get a pipeline rolling. So that's that's our big plan.
Christian Rodwell 25:09
Brilliant gratulations. See both. And finally then Jeff, what what do you think's been the biggest surprise to you both since joining foundation programme,
Unknown Speaker 25:18
the biggest surprise is probably that we've changed our thinking. It's just become clearer. And we've been able to focus on wealth building and cash flow, and just making the most of the potential that we've got at the moment. It's been really, really good to be able to focus on that and the education is it's been great as well. Thanks so much for sharing that with us today, Jeff, and once again, congratulations to you both. Thank you. Thanks very much.
Christian Rodwell 25:43
JOHN, welcome back to wealth talk. How are you?
Unknown Speaker 25:45
I'm fine, Christy. I'm doing really well. Thank you. Yes,
Christian Rodwell 25:48
john. Obviously you featured on our episode back in July in 2019. And that was, I think, a month or two perhaps after first joining the foundation programme. So it's really great to have you back and We'd love to hear how things have been going for you since then. So just remind our listeners what was kind of the main problem or challenge that you were feeling and encountering before you actually joined the programme.
Unknown Speaker 26:11
I suppose at the start, when I look at myself, I didn't think I had a problem or an issue or a challenge. It was just me being me doing what I do. But after spending time with Kevin yourself and listen to it, I realised Actually, I'm probably all over the place a little bit and like headless chicken with hundred ideas a day in my head, and then trying to do 100 ideas a day. And that's probably not an exaggeration. It probably was like that me I've got an idea. I like make loads of money, let's do this or that me brilliant money. Let's do this. And I wasn't really focused. I had my property things in the background. So I was doing okay, financially. I had my businesses that we've now sold, but they made me money as well. So from a monetary point of view, I was doing okay, but from a focus and getting to my goal point of view pills, probably doing really badly didn't realise it at the time. What was it in particular about the foundation programme that made you decide to join john? I don't know, it was more, I'd never done education, whether it's property or don't the education I've done these were services, you have to do a qualification in order to do a particular role. And I've never really bought into any of that. I know, there's a lot of training courses out there. I'm probably not that person. I'm not a classroom driven person. I think I spoke to Kevin in relation to my pension a few times. And then we got talking about business and what I did. And I think I bought into Kevin more than anything, and then randomly got an email saying, Would you like to join wealth builders? And I think because Kevin hadn't charged me for any of his time, and everything he'd given was literally free and actually very good educationally for me. I thought, you know what, for what you were charging at time and everything, I'll join it and let's see what happens. And I'm really glad it did.
Christian Rodwell 27:53
So each of them and I remember when we spoke back in July, you mentioned some of the kind of surprises, the benefits of that time. One of them being the wealth dynamics profile test. And I know that you really kind of stuck to that having you really understanding where your strengths and weaknesses are. So tell us a little bit more about kind of how that's progressed over the last six months for you.
Unknown Speaker 28:12
Yeah, so my wealth dynamic, I'm a creator, it's 5224 12. So, Kevin should smile at that one, because I remember now. And basically, I realised that I'm really good at kind of ideas, coming up with things that would work, but not necessarily very good at getting them to the end, finishing them or crossing the T's and dotting the T's. So I'm to be teaming up with a lot of people more collaboration, working on my strengths, and working on my weaknesses to make myself better, but realising that's not my strength. So actually, if I can bring someone into the mix that can help me do that. Let's do it. As an example of that. Four of us are collaborating together within the wealth builders now on on a new kind of project we're doing and it's been really fun. To actually what everyone's different dynamic within the group, because I think we all are quite different. Some of them are really good. We have a call and delve into spreadsheet and they'll have diagrams, and they'll have all of it and you look and go, Wow, okay. I would have never have done that. My would have been a two minute huddle sketch on a piece of paper. Have a look at it. So yes, and I've really gotten into sticking to what I am good at. And it's really working for me with a couple of businesses now. Since we spoke, we bought one started another. So going really well.
Christian Rodwell 29:30
No, that's great to say. And I think one of the benefits of the group and the wealth dynamics profiles is the buddy groups that we've put together. And I know you've been part of buddy group that's been working really well for you as well, john.
Unknown Speaker 29:42
Yeah, we kind of stole a few people didn't read along the way when you speak. And so I was like, Yeah, my buddy groups. Great. Come join. I think the collaboration working together and wealth builders has been brilliant. But again, I think it's, I've used a lot of it for accountability. So I've used the Facebook and post. I know some people are Mighty that as, or john might be doing a bragging post over actually do it say, look, this is what I've done. But I always put this is what I want to do next. So my next post has always been okay, I said I was going to do this, I've never done it. So for me, it's always been about, like you said, start staying on track, staying on plan, staying on hitting that goal that being quite rigid in the decisions I make. Now, I've now got an ideas book. So every hundred ideas I have are actually written in a pad. And one of the ideas was mentioned with a couple of the wealth builders groups and kind of crossed it off now because that's actually going into business.
Christian Rodwell 30:33
So on that note of business, then john up saying now you've got this real understanding of the Seven Pillars and wheel of wealth and I know you've had a keen interest in our recent podcasts and around the business area and certainly recurring income and tell us a little bit about some of the ideas and what that sparked in your mind.
Unknown Speaker 30:51
Yeah, so my background was financial services. We started as a mortgage broker practice which isn't residual income at all. We then moved into an eighth firm, which then you, you start to realise the value of residual income, because it means you can sell your business for a lot more. So I've always understood it, but probably not to that for yourself and Kevin explaining it, that you can change a lot of businesses into service business. So I just come up with five or six different ideas that I think would work. We're setting up a letting agency which again, if you've got the right tenants in place, and you've got the right landlords in place, so it's going to be focused solely on portfolio landlords. So once you've got that landlord, and he's growing his portfolio, he's actually growing your business as well, as long as you keep him and do a good job. So that's, that's one business, I've got another business that we're looking to set up, which is going to be a subscription model against people buying things online and supplying the product to them on a monthly basis with a monthly supply. So if they do like it, they'll come back and then it should be a repeat 12 months subscription. And I think that's where my focus is. Now. If I was speaking to another mortgage brokerage debate to them. I said, I'll only do it if you bring in a subscription model. Otherwise, I won't be involved. I'd be quite blunt by that as well. I'll do this as long as you put the subscription model or our monthly fee in there to the members. Now it's so good john to hear, you know, obviously embracing the lessons, everything you're learning and the connections that you've made within the group in what's probably 10 months or so since you joined, if that even is really great to see, and how's it changed your belief about your ability to hit your financial goals in the future? I see my belief is always there anyway, I knew I was going to do it. I've always said by the date I was going to do it. But I think with joining the group from when we first started, I think it's about I always focus on two to three years initially, but I think I'll probably do it 18 months, but I have just embraced it is literally just do it. I think the people who join the group or joining community like this is great to sit in the shadows and what And listen, I think actually, if you just took a step at a time, you actually get to where you need to be quicker. And I think that's been the whole kind of ethos of what you will Kevin trying to do is one step at a time guys one step at a time, I probably tried to one step, then another step, another step, another step, and then I stop and take a break and then go again. Whereas before, I probably never stopped and did a stellar check. Right. Okay. Is that working? Can I repeat it? Greg, can I get someone else to sit in that chair and repeat what I was doing? And I can go on to my next little idea. So yeah, really, really well, to be honest, enjoying it?
Christian Rodwell 33:37
Right. Well, we're enjoying having you part of the group. JOHN, thanks so much for sharing with us today on wealth talk.
Unknown Speaker 33:42
No problem. Thank you. Hey, rich, co Welcome to wealth talk. Thanks, Christians. Great to be on the show.
Christian Rodwell 33:48
It's great to have you on here. Rich co now you have been absolutely flying. So I'd love for our listeners to hear and find out about what you've been doing. But take us back to kind of maybe some Some of the problems or challenges or the things that were going through your mind before you joined the programme?
Unknown Speaker 34:05
Yes, absolutely. Before I joined the foundation programme, I was really looking for ways to create income from assets. And I didn't really know where to start, I had limited knowledge on how to begin creating income from assets. I had just started my Amazon business in 2018. And I was slowly getting that up and running. But I still felt that something was missing, but I just didn't know what that was. And how did that make you feel like not really having a clear plan, maybe at that point, and not maybe seeing into the future? You know, how does that leave you feeling? Yeah, it was quite frustrating actually, in a bit of a challenge, because I think the challenge was, I didn't know what I didn't know. So I didn't know where to search for answers. And I was looking for something specific, but I didn't really know what that looked like until I found the foundation programme. And that's when I signed up for it immediately because I knew I found the answer. I was looking for
Christian Rodwell 35:01
Yeah. What was it in particular then rich co that that made you decide that the foundation programme was right what was stood out about it,
Unknown Speaker 35:08
I felt the foundation programme would give me a holistic approach on building wealth and creating income from assets. It really covers all the bases from mindset to your reason why some basic fundamentals you need to have in place such as your roof, going through your debits. So real holistic approach of getting started before you can even start thinking about building wealth.
Christian Rodwell 35:31
And I mean, it's only really been about eight or nine months. I think since you joined rich Colbert quite a bit has been panting hasn't it? So why don't you tell our listeners, what progress you've been making and what wheels you've been turning?
Unknown Speaker 35:43
Absolutely. I've chosen the pillars to focus on so I think that the key bit of information that stood out when I first joined the programme, and I started understanding about the Seven Pillars of wealth was to learn about them and go through them and Choose the ones that I was going to focus on. So I'd had started the business pillar on a small scale. And after joining the programme, I'd started on the property pillar as my second pillar to focus on as well as the pension illo. So, most of the wheel turning has been in those two pillars, property pillar in particular, I started with education, educate myself on property investing, started to build connections, build a support network around me, and then leverage those relationships to turn the wheel and take guided action, which is been very fruitful so far.
Christian Rodwell 36:34
It has, how's your recurring income from assets coming on, you know, if we were to take you back to before joining the programme to now, are you seeing that recurring income increasing?
Unknown Speaker 36:45
Absolutely. When I first joined, I was on a couple of hundred a month from the Amazon business was sort of creeping up to getting close to about 50% of the target figure that we have in mind to reach financial security. income generated from assets. So we've purchased four properties. Since joining the programme. We're in the process of refurbishing the first one. And we'll look at seeing some income coming in from that quite quickly. So I feel we've really accelerated the process since we started the programme. That's amazing. And, and I know you've had some property education, which is separate to wealth builders, because wealth builders, we don't teach the specific education around property. It's, as you mentioned, that holistic approach and then you've gone and got specialist education, which has really helped you I know that would you say the structure of the wheel has just
Christian Rodwell 37:35
helped you focus? Do you think if you weren't aware of that education, support, connection, due diligence that you would be where you are now?
Unknown Speaker 37:41
Yes, the programmes really helped to give some structure in that and understanding the different elements of the wheel, the structure of it, also the pillars themselves, and also how to create leverage, I think the acronym first or the different elements of creating leverage and how to use that. That's been really helpful and something that I wasn't aware of before join.
Christian Rodwell 38:04
That's great. And what we say is being one of the biggest kind of surprises or benefits of joining the programme,
Unknown Speaker 38:09
their biggest benefit definitely has been some of the new connections and friendships I've made through foundation programme network. It's fantastic group of like minded people all supporting each other celebrating successes, sharing challenges that will come along the way as well, which is really great and made some really, really great connections along the way. So I think that's been the biggest surprise, but also the biggest benefit of the programme so far.
Christian Rodwell 38:33
Oh, that's great to hear. And I know but that's the same that many of our members say is, you know, having that support of like minded people is so important and really does provide accountability. And how you feeling in terms of mindset rich or co finally about where the next six months or 12 months can take you. Do you feel more confident now?
Unknown Speaker 38:53
I do. Absolutely. I feel the targets within reach of financial security and I think that's going to be a huge thing. Knowing that you're no longer relying on a job or a way of income to know that you've got other ways I can already feel my mindset to change in my day job as it is knowing that I have this other dimension in the background in terms of generating income. So yeah, it's been life changing if that's the way to describe it, Christian. pleased to hear that. Well, one of the
Christian Rodwell 39:23
episodes of wealth talk, which is still Kevin and I have people come up to us was the three days and that was the drifters, the DI wires and the dynamos and there's absolutely no doubt that yourself and the lead singer absolute dynamos at the moment rich goes so well done again. And thank you so much for sharing today with us.
Unknown Speaker 39:40
It's been a pleasure, Christian. Thank you.
Christian Rodwell 39:43
Okay, Kevin. So there we go. And it was such a pleasure speaking with our members and just asking them for their updates and their progress. And of course, we're speaking to them on a weekly basis and on the calls but to hear that they're just makes it all feel worth it to make
Unknown Speaker 39:59
Do you need a moment
Christian Rodwell 40:00
Well, I think I said on a previous episode, you know, I feel very connected to our members. And we know there's a problem out there. We know that people are overwhelmed. We hear it every week. There's so much information, much of it conflicting, and people just don't know where to start. And I think the one thing I picked up myself, Kevin, from all of our members, there was just having that structure, having a plan and, and a step by step process just gives people so much confidence.
Unknown Speaker 40:25
Well, yeah, I mean, I think I picked up first of all, that a couple of the guys there said they didn't know there was a problem in the first place. They were almost if you remember some of our language, they were drifting a bit. And something was the catalyst that made them take notes and go hang on a minute, you know, maybe I do have a problem. Maybe I do need to understand that if I don't do anything, I find relying on a single source of income. And in the end, that income must dry up, whether it's in a business or in a job, then there's gonna be a problem and they faced that problem head on, and I think it's a bit too Up, who to trust was an issue. There's a few people saying, look, there's loads of education out there, but it had some disappointment, some bad experiences, standard education was just not serving them. And they knew there was something missing. And I'm so pleased that they found their way to us however they, they did that and that structure that we've worked together with them and now sharpened it and honed it ready for, you know, the new seven steps to wealth programme. I'm so delighted that it works, even though they're not wealthy, yet they're not going to be wealthy. Nobody gets wealthy completely any way. In nine months, you know, it doesn't happen, but you get transformed by momentum by taking action and moving forward. And I think my biggest realisation from everything that Chris was how I think one of them I can't I can't actually remember which one now said, this was life changing. When you can change somebody's life, I can get emotional, because that's really, really powerful. Because life changing means not just changing the lives of the people, but their partners, their spouses, and ultimately their kids. Because once you've established and you've got a wealth building formula, you know the skills, you know, your wealth dynamic, you know how to do things. And you know, when you make mistakes, how to correct them, then it's not just something that equips you forever, it means you can teach that wisdom to the next generation. And in many cases, the life changing isn't just going to be for them, it's going to be for the next generation as well. And that means something to me, because that was the reason why I got into wealth wasn't it because of the tragic death of my dad and I knew wasn't going to serve me to copy him and made the change for myself. And I'm so thrilled to be the guide for so many people to make those changes for themselves. But instead of taking 15 years or whatever it took me, they can do this in five, six or seven years, you know, which is just fantastic.
Christian Rodwell 42:57
Just takes away that uncertainty about the future and not really knowing if things are going to work out. And the collaboration, the connection that was mentioned a lot as well, Kevin, and we've worked hard with the buddy groups and it's paying off because we heard from Richie co about a collaboration with four other members I think john actually is is part of that group as well. So this is not the only example is it?
Unknown Speaker 43:20
I think they all said community, didn't they? And I know when I mentioned drifters and the other big D's the DIY is, you know, the DIY is will miss out big style, because they won't get the community and I think everybody is moving faster, more enjoyably. They're finding leverage in the community. Think Danny mentioned community and connection. Jeff and Steph mentioned community john mentioned community rich eco I mean, the community is what it's all about. So that's why I think it's great for us to be heading that community and inviting more people to join it. By the way, we are reaching out to people as we begin to expand this, you know, we, we know 5% make it. We'd like that to be 6% and then 7% and really be a leading light in helping people to become wealthy. And we are reaching out and looking for coaches or people who are willing to learn our materials and be part of our future coaching team I'll be Chris
Christian Rodwell 44:20
absolutely sure. So if anyone listening right now is a coach or feels that that would be something that you'd like to have a conversation with us about then do reach out Hello at wealth builders. co.uk. Why don't we announced this special competition, Kevin because we are obviously opening up again for the seven steps 12 programme next month. So March the 30th. The Doors will open for a short period of time and and they'll close and will reopen again later in the year probably around September, October time. But for one very lucky listener, we are giving away a free place on the seven steps 12 programme. So that's value of 1997 pounds plus VAT, absolutely free. That's 12 months coaching, mentoring, accountability, support from Kevin, myself and the rest of our wealth coaches and community. So we're real excited to offer that. And it's really easy to enter. So head over to wealth builders.co.uk forward slash competition, if you'd like to be in with a chance to win.
Unknown Speaker 45:50
Yeah, that sounds great. And it's really important to say Chris, isn't it that when we say we're opening and closing we mean that deliberately for the best benefit of our members, not in some kind of, you know, weird scarcity play, because what's key for us is when we get started in the programme, we're going to kick it. We're going to make sure that we're accelerating everybody in the programme. So they get started and get that momentum going. And we can't do that if we're doing dribs and drabs. So I think we'll do over a week Chris, something like that. That should be enough for the vast majority of people just to make their mind up and they'll be plenty of information. And you know, you more was Welcome to drop us an email if there's some questions about the programme, or just you know, wait and then listen to the podcast, see what other people are doing. And look at us again in October so we're not for everybody. We're definitely not for the drifters. You know, if you're drifting and you found yourself, just always meaning to get around to it, you need to get around to it but never getting around to it. And that's going to change you and be the catalyst for you. Just keep listening to the podcast wouldn't be for you. Because wealth comes from doing, not just from learning, learning itself doesn't do anything, it just makes you feel something. And it's that's temporary. What makes the difference is putting the knowledge into action in the right structure in a step by step way, so you don't get overwhelmed. And there are people around you to make you feel safe, supported, and genuinely enjoyable as our members of finding out. And I think we've learned one big thing, Chris, suddenly, which is we need to do and we will be doing lots and lots of face to face, engaging meetings, you know, where people can all get together, because they've taken off this year,
Christian Rodwell 47:38
indeed. And we've heard today from five members, and they're just as you mentioned, Kevin, a small sample from our 100 of action takers. And it's exciting to think that when we are celebrating our seconds here, just what stories will be able to share on that episode as well. So I'm so much looking forward to that.
Unknown Speaker 47:57
Likewise, Chris, and listen me It's been a pleasure working with you
Christian Rodwell 48:03
is too many more Kevin. So thank you once again and thank you everyone for listening and we look forward to seeing you on the next episode of webtop reporter to see you
Unknown Speaker 48:14
